Frame 35 was received by Charlotte Boxall, started at Art Ancrum by Charlotte and Sheila Patrick, when the split ribs were set in place with Norbury from the Chesterhope plot. Later, the round ribs were fixed by Charlotte B (using Green Dicks from Jane Elphick at Brinkburn) 6 rods woven either side and both ends.
Friday, 6th June, saw the next group weave at Charlotte Lobb’s Willowdene studio, where Gill, Emma, Charlotte, and Charlotte all took turns to complete the weaving.
Afterwards Charlotte B completed the weaving, tied in ends, picked off and attached the handle and label.
There were mixed feelings regarding whether to reweave a conventional willow trug or introduce other materials. All the materials came from between Longframlington and Hepple, including:
Cream Shetland Wool from Bamble
Black Shetland Wool from Pepper
Cocksfoot grass (Dactylis glomerata)
Soft rush (Juncus effusus)
Iris Siberica
Willows: Norbury, Green Dicks, Packing Twine, handle Calliantha.
Thank you to all who contributed; there was much enjoyment to be had in weaving it together.
