October Meeting Eden Valley Basketry Group

Eden Valley Basketry Group concentrated on making hen baskets at their October meeting. They used both willow hoops and an alternative material, in this case, embroidery frames. Eight members took part and they had prepared by reading the chapter on her foraging basket in Jenny Crisp’s book ‘Willow’. A sample basket was prepared by group leader, Elaine Blackett-Ord, and guidance given. Although quite challenging for some, it was very much appreciated that their baskets could be finished at home in their own time. The embroidery hoops proved challenging, particularly at the handle point, but great progress was made all round.

Cakes provided by Marion and Jo; this could become a habit! Self-help group meetings are held on the last Saturday of the month at Ravenstonedale near Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, if anyone would like to join us.
