Broadrake Self-Help News January 2026

Broadrake Self-Help group worked with ‘foraged fibres’ and willow bark in January. Fibres included leaves from iris, crocosmia, daffodil, plantain, mauve rhubarb, shiny dandelion stems, plus willow bark, all collected from Broadrake last spring and summer.

The group all enjoyed the different mediums and working small scale on the very tiddly baskets. We all learnt so much about how the fibres and bark behaved with soaking, base options, how to join fibres, how to fasten off and make borders on the different projects.

Everyone loved this topic, so we’re repeating it on Weds 11th Feb. There’s plenty of material left, and many more ideas for everyone to do something different next time.
