This workshop is the last of three short workshops exploring fibre plants for basketry scheduled for July, August, and September. Attending all three costs £90 (£60).
Each workshop will focus on plants growing in wild and cultivated habitats, such as meadows, ponds, marshes, woodland, hedgerows, gardens, and wastelands.
Depending on the season and availability, plants could include brambles, nettles, burdock, evening primrose, butterbur, rosebay willowherb, rush, bindweed, iris, crocosmia, dandelion, plantain, and others.
We will learn how to identify, harvest, and process different plants, make fibre samples to take home, and investigate how to use them in stringmaking and basketry techniques.
